Megan Sperry, Director + Producer

Megan Sperry is an educator, documentary filmmaker & advocate who lives in the Hudson Valley. She is a tenure-track assistant professor of Digital Media Production at SUNY New Paltz and the Program Director for the Woodstock Film Festival Youth Film Lab. Her creative projects focus on issues of affordable housing, criminal justice reform, food security issues and living wage jobs. Community is essential and central to everything that she does. In the past Sperry served as the Chair of the Rosendale Economic Development Commission and as a Board Member & Market Manager for the Rosendale Farmers Market. In January 2022 she joined the Ulster County Legislature, representing District 17.

Brett Barry, Audio Producer

Brett Barry is an audio producer and voice-over artist at Silver Hollow Audio, his studio in Chichester, NY. He hosts public radio’s Sound Beat and produces Kaatscast, a biweekly Catskills podcast. Brett teaches media production at SUNY New Paltz, in the department of Digital Media and Journalism.

Zach Bell, Cinematographer + Editor

Zach Bell is a freelance cinematographer and video editor in New Paltz, NY. His work is split between corporate video with a story-driven documentary twist, and social justice films with an emphasis on human rights, and the environment. When not working, he can be found playing music or drinking homemade kombucha.

Ukrainian producer, cinematographer and filmmaker driven by emotionally engaging storytelling and social change. Currently working on documentary survival TV series as an associate producer.

Brian Beanland, Intern SU21

With a background in audio production and sound engineering, Brian extended his knowledge to include Videography, Editing, and Visual Effects through his education at SUNY New Paltz. He collaborated with Little Light on Serendipitous Spill as an editor, sound designer and 2nd camera.

Aleah Speller, Intern FA21/SP22

Aleah Speller is a Digital Media Production major with a minor in Sociology at SUNY New Paltz. Aleah feels elated in the role of capturing moments equally behind and in front of the camera! She hopes to combine her knowledge of social in/justice and filmmaking, to create eye-opening documentary(s) one day that completely change the way people understand taboo topics in society. She is currently doing freelance videography covering diverse events around NYC.

Leija Rothenberg, Intern FA21/SP22

Leija Rothenberg is a soon-to-be Digital Media Production graduate of SUNY New Paltz. Between working in the equipment room and filming projects, Leija DJs at the school radio station, WFNP. Catch her on Tuesday nights from 8-10!

Hannah Daly, Intern SP22

Hannah Daly is a SUNY New Paltz Digital Media Production graduate from Stony Brook, NY. Hannah has been working on many independent films in the Hudson Valley and around Long Island. She hopes to use her passion for design, film, and social justice to create change and conversation in the areas.

Diego + Maisie, Office Assistants

Diego and Maisie are both rescues from the South. Diego is Schnauzer mix from Alabama. He’s a great subject for testing lighting set ups. Maisie is some sort of terrier mix from Mississippi. They both serve as emotional support, security and quality control for the entire Little Light Team. When they’re not on the clock, they enjoy long walks in the woods, toys, belly rubs + bones.
